Procurement Officer
Job Description
The Procurement Officer is responsible for sourcing high-quality materials, machinery, and equipment while ensuring cost-effectiveness and compliance with company policies. This role involves identifying and evaluating suppliers, negotiating contracts, and managing procurement processes to prevent project delays due to shortages. Responsibilities: Identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with reliable suppliers and subcontractors. Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing to achieve cost-effective procurement without compromising quality. Source high-quality construction materials, machinery, and equipment. Prepare and process purchase orders, ensuring proper documentation and approvals. Monitor stock levels and coordinate orders to prevent project delays due to shortages. Compare and analyze quotations to ensure cost-effectiveness. Track procurement expenses and ensure purchases remain within budget. Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend alternative materials or suppliers where necessary. Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, industry standards, and legal requirements. Maintain up-to-date records of procurement transactions, supplier agreements, and inventory reports. Prepare and submit periodic procurement reports to management.
Requirement(s)
HND/Degree in Procurement or Supply Chain Management, or a related field. 8+ years of experience in procurement, preferably in the construction industry. Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Knowledge of construction environment, materials, suppliers, and procurement best practices. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Ability to work under minimum supervision. Self-motivated.
