Job Description

The Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) Supervisor will oversee and coordinate the installation, maintenance, and repair of all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems for a construction project. This role involves ensuring that MEP systems are designed, installed, and function as intended within the specified project timeline and budget, and in compliance with all relevant codes and standards.

Requirement(s)

Develop detailed MEP work plans and schedules in collaboration with project managers and other supervisors. Coordinate with architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure MEP systems are integrated into the overall project design. Review MEP plans and specifications to identify potential issues and ensure accuracy. Oversee the installation of MEP systems, ensuring they meet design specifications and industry standards. Monitor the progress of MEP work to ensure it is on schedule and within budget. Conduct regular site inspections to verify the quality and progress of MEP installations. Supervise and guide MEP technicians, subcontractors, and other related staff. Ensure that all MEP team members are aware of safety regulations and follow them strictly. Facilitate training and development programs for team members to enhance their skills and knowledge. Ensure all MEP work complies with local, state, and federal building codes and regulations. Implement and maintain quality control procedures for MEP systems and installations. Prepare and maintain accurate records of MEP activities, inspections, and maintenance schedules. Identify and resolve issues related to MEP systems promptly. Provide technical expertise to troubleshoot and solve complex MEP problems. Work with other construction team members to address any construction challenges that affect MEP systems. Liaise with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery of MEP materials and equipment. Coordinate with project stakeholders to ensure their requirements and expectations are met. Manage relationships with external contractors and ensure they adhere to project standards. Prepare regular progress reports for the project manager and other stakeholders. Document all aspects of MEP work including modifications, inspections, and maintenance activities. Ensure that all documentation is up-to-date and easily accessible for future reference. Required Skills or Experience Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., LEED, PMP) are an advantage. Valid certifications in relevant MEP areas are preferred. Minimum of 10 years and above of experience in MEP supervision within the construction industry. Technical Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or other MEP design software. Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. Knowledge of local, state, and federal building codes and standards. Management Skills: Excellent leadership and team management abilities. Strong organizational and project management skills. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to troubleshoot complex MEP issues and provide effective solutions. Work Environment The role requires working on-site at the construction project location. The MEP Supervisor must be able to work in varying weather conditions and at different heights. The position involves frequent interaction with a diverse team of construction professionals. Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Capability to stand, walk, and climb stairs and ladders for extended periods. Manual dexterity and the ability to use hand and power tools.
