Human Resource Officer
Job Description
• As a Human Resource Officer in the retail industry, you will play a crucial role in managing and enhancing the employee experience. • You will be responsible for various HR functions including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, and compliance with labor laws. • Your goal is to support the retail team in achieving operational excellence through effective HR practices. Duties/Responsibilities 1. Recruitment and Selection: • Collaborate with department managers to identify staffing needs. • Manage the end-to-end recruitment process, including job postings, screening, interviewing, and onboarding new employees. • Conduct background checks and reference verification. 2. Employee Onboarding and Training: • Develop and implement onboarding programs for new hires to ensure a smooth transition. • Coordinate training sessions and workshops to enhance employee skills and knowledge. 3. Performance Management: • Assist in the development and implementation of performance appraisal systems. • Provide support in setting performance goals and conducting evaluations. • Monitor and report on employee performance trends. 4. Onboarding, Training and Development: • Create and implement effective onboarding plans. • Identify training needs within the workforce and coordinate relevant training programs. • Support the professional development of employees through mentorship and training opportunities. • Collaborate with external training providers to ensure employees receive up-to-date industry-specific training. 5. Policy Development and Compliance: • Ensure compliance with labor laws and industry regulations. • Assist in developing and updating HR policies and procedures. • Maintain employee records and HR databases in accordance with legal requirements. 6. Compensation and Benefits: • Provide guidance to employees regarding benefit options and assist with issue resolution. • Educate employees on company benefits and rewards. • Support the administration of payroll and benefits programs. • Assist in conducting salary surveys and benchmarking 7. HR Metrics and Reporting: • Collect and analyze HR metrics to inform decision-making. • Prepare reports for management on various HR activities 8. Employee Relations: • Act as a point of contact for employee inquiries and concerns. • Foster a positive work environment by addressing employee grievances and resolving conflicts. • Promote employee engagement initiatives and company culture. 9. Employee Data & Records Management: • Maintain employee records and update as needed • Develop, implement, manage and maintain employee data with respect to leave (annual, sick, maternity)
Requirement(s)
• Proven experience as HR officer or other HR position • Knowledge of HR functions (pay & benefits, recruitment, training & development etc.) • Very good conflict Resolution Management skill • Understanding of labour laws and disciplinary procedures • Proficient in MS Office; knowledge of HRMS is a plus • Outstanding organizational and time-management abilities • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Problem-solving and decision-making aptitude • Minimum of BSc/BA in business administration, social studies or relevant field HR Credentials (e.g., PHR, CIHRM, SHRM-CP) • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role Personality Competencies • Assertive, Confidentiality, Influential, Reliable, Independent, Safety conscious. • Results oriented and proactive. • Pay attention to details, work well under pressure, Follow through on tasks. • Team player, be able to work to deadlines. • Flexible in the approach to Work, Deliver work to a high standard of quality. Working Conditions: • Fast-paced retail environment. • May require evening and weekend hours during peak seasons.
