Job Description

Asanko Gold Ghana Ltd is seeking to employ a highly qualified, resultsdriven and skilled professional to join our Exploration department as Unit Manager – Regional Exploration. The successful candidate will play an active hands-on’ field-based role, provide leadership, and guidance on systems that deliver optimal evaluation and development of potential resources. Job Purpose To manage the implementation of early-stage exploration strategies and geological programs relating to greenfield exploration in an efficient manner and ensure that appropriate exploration technology and research are deployed to support generative exploration activities Key Responsibilities Assess and interpret all available data sets to rank exploration targets and opportunities. Plan, organize and execute early-stage exploration programs which include soil sampling, geological mapping, geophysical survey, trenching, and drilling activities. Play active ‘hands-on’ field-based role in all exploration programs and data collection. Effectively manage multiple field crews on a variety of exploration projects simultaneously in different locations within Ghana. Plan and manage the activities of immediate team members to ensure achievement of performance targets. Develop detailed documentation to justify proposed exploration programs to support application/request for exploration budget. Ensure geology staff are properly trained in all applicable SOPs and ensure these standards are maintained through field job observations. Ensure optimal drilling schedule is adhered to and delivered priority targets in a timely manner. Conduct internal audits of the geology/exploration management system and reconcile these against external audits. Act as a member of the Company’s upper management team and promote the corporate strategy. In consultation with the Head of department, maintain the department’s costs and budget forecasts and foster a culture of cost awareness within the team; Perform any other related duties that may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor

Requirement(s)

Degree in Geology / Geological Engineering or related field with knowledge of geological principles. Minimum of seven (7) years of post-qualification work experience preferably in greenstone belts. Familiarity with current geological technologies and practices; Proficient in geological & exploration related software is essential; Working knowledge in the following geological and exploration software is required: ArcGIS, Micromine Working knowledge of the Mining Act and related regulations of the Republic of Ghana, and able to interpret and apply these laws and regulations. Sound knowledge and understanding of relevant Occupational Health & Safety Regulations and legislative requirements. Ability to analyze data, develop strategies, and implement action plans that improve operational performance. Strong computer literacy skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook); Must have a valid Ghanaian license, minimum of five (5) years driving experience, and ability to drive in rough terrain
